3/9/2024 0 Comments Kali vm for windows 10 hyper v![]() ![]() And to be fair, I use my main laptop like a rented mule, as my grandma used to say, and may have just discovered it's limits instead of there being a real problem with WSL2. I got blue screen errors about once or twice a week. If you need to kind of save resources and can wait to do the wireless stuff, WSL2 can be good for learning a lot of stuff. If your computer can handle it, VirtualBox wins. So my 2cents: If you want to do wireless stuff VirtualBox wins. When I'm not doing that, I just use the onboard wifi. I'm actually digging the VirtualBox Kali and have been able to do the all the wireless stuff (so far) with a USB Alfa I got off eBay. I am keeping this one free of all the garbage I end up collecting on my main laptop. So I ended up updating Win10 on the older laptop and loading VirtualBox on it. (Since I stopped using it, that hasn't happened again) WSL2 has the limitations like you mentioned and I started getting blue screen of death that I hadn't been getting before. One I use for most of my stuff and it just cannot handle virtualbox, so I uninstalled and went the whole WSL2 route. I have two laptops, both laptops are years old, i5 Acer Aspires. I've been playing around with the same question. r/linux /r/linuxquestions /r/ubuntu /r/linux_devices /r/fedora /r/linuxaudio /r/debian /r/linux_gaming /r/gentoo /r/linuxhardware /r/linuxmint /r/unix /r/archlinux /r/BSD /r/opensuse /r/24hoursupport /r/slackware /r/techsupport /r/crunchbang /r/buildapc /r/manjarolinux /r/minipcs /r/kubuntu /r/unixprotips /r/lubuntu /r/linuxprojects /r/xubuntu /r/distrohopping /r/puppylinux /r/homenetworking /r/elementaryos /r/homelab /r/openwrt /r/commandline /r/linuxfromscratch /r/linux_programming /r/redhat /r/linuxdev /r/centos /r/linuxadmin /r/gnome /r/sysadmin /r/kde /r/netsec /r/lxde /r/libredesign /r/xfce /r/freeculture /r/cinnamonDE /r/opensource Metasploit the Penetration Tester's Guide ***Other Linux Resources on Reddit*** Join the official IRC at #kali-linux, on the Freenode network.Īlso stay in touch and stay tuned in at: Īnd keep your skills sharp and your mind fresh with: Mastering Kali Linux for Advanced Penetration Testing ![]() Stay up to date with our Cybersecurity mutireddit at: Cybersecurity Offensive Security Metasploit Unleashed Course Offensive Security Exploit Database Archive You can also refer to the Kali linux forums for other very basic help.Īlso check /r/linuxquestions /r/linux4noobs /r/techsupportĪlso, anything besides a little good natured hazing will be met with a warning and then a ban.Ģ2 Best sites to legally practice hacking "If you are unfamiliar with Linux generally, if you do not have at least a basic level of competence in administering a system, if you are looking for a Linux distribution to use as a learning tool to get to know your way around Linux, or if you want a distro that you can use as a general purpose desktop installation, Kali Linux is probably not what you are looking for." I'm wondering if there's some well-known info about compat issues here.Dedicated to Kali Linux, a complete re-build of BackTrack Linux, adhering completely to Debian development standards with an all-new infrastructure that has been put in place. I suspect (guess) either Hyper-V has some issue, or perhaps some compat issue with Hyper-V/5950X. ![]() In fact, I upgraded to Windows 11 to remove any possibility the issue might relate to virtualization deltas between 10 and 11. I've seen this behavior on both Windows 10 and Windows 11. Parrot proceeds forward, things look hopeful until cursor goes to upper/left and blinks "forever". After applying the above workaround, I choose the "Try / Install" option to begin installation.I cannot proceed forward with Kali so next step relates to Parrot only. but Kali is blurry and non-functional, while Parrot's menu is good/functional. Workaround: I if drag VM window to 1080p, perform same steps, distro's early boot remains visible (good). I have dual display (4k and 1080p), when Hyper-V window to VM is opened on 4K, I click Start to boot the ISO, I see a brief flash of boot splash image then VM goes dark (problem/unexpected).When I try to install either Kali or Parrot ISOs with the same setup, I see two issues: Setup: Windows 11, Ryzen 5950X, W6800 Pro Graphics, dual display (1080 and 4K), Hyper-V installed, working with Fedora installed from ISO. Does anyone know if Windows 11, Ryzen 5950X with Hyper-V, and either Kali Linux or Parrot Linux Debian distributions are able to work? I am seeing issues trying to install either from each distro's latest ISO. ![]()
